THE MOON CARD
The Moon Card - XVIII - The bringing to light of what was previously hidden
What an appropriate card for how I was feeling at the time of making this. At the same time, I was reading The Artist’s Way and uncovering the blocks and fears I have around art and creativity. When approaching each session I drew this work, I felt like I didn’t want to. Not because I really didn’t want to, but because I was scared to mess it up. Sitting down anyway begun transforming my perception of starting a project, because every single time it turned out that I had fun while sitting down, and it often felt like meditating to put down dot after dot.
Here, I placed the darkest values in the front and lightest in the back to create spatial depth. I also considered the moon as the single light source - it lights up the middle of the stream and casts shadows where the light from the horizon cannot touch.
