SELF PORTRAIT
When approaching subject matter and background, I assessed what I wanted to get out of drawing this self portrait. An artistic goal was to create an interesting composition by using an angle that I have not drawn before. My other goal was self awareness - to understand how I was living in that moment and capture it on canvas. I chose what is seen in the final for this reason, for I am in my element with my favorite sweatshirt and comfy shoes on, and I am sitting in my room. This is where I enjoyed doing most of my creative work for school, as it was the place I felt most like myself and the place where I was surrounded by my own aesthetics.
