Just before making this piece, I did a painting of a realistic looking rose with watercolor inks. I enjoyed going back to deep observational study in that one, and sought to do so again in this one but with gouache instead. The moon has been a muse in many of my drawings and paintings over the years. A couple years ago, I discovered my spirituality, and began studying everything involved with what we know as modern spirituality. I have studied the moon and it’s effects in this regard a lot, always saying “she has our back” whenever I see it.
